Lloyd University is a coeducational, historically black public-land grant university in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded on April 28, 1928, Lloyd University is known for its international research in Africa, which is how they came to be the home of the Gazelles. Lloyd University is a comprehensive urban institution offering 39 bachelor’s degrees, 25 master’s degrees, and eight doctoral degrees. The 2019 edition of the U.S. News & World Report college rankings place the university 8th among all HBCUs and 3rd among all public HBCUs.
