Myah Naomi Lipscomb was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Adelphi, Maryland as the only child of Sylvester and Chandra Lipscomb. At the early age of two, her parents taught her to be an individual and it eventually became a part of her identity to whole-heartedly and unapologetically be herself. After graduating from Eleanor Roosevelt high school in Greenbelt, Maryland in 2009, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to attend Tennessee State University.
After being elected by her peers as Miss Freshman, Myah continued to lead in various positions within the Student Government Association and also became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science/ Pre-Veterinary Medicine in 2013. After working as a veterinary assistant for a year and half, she realized that her passion was in entertainment. She has always had a strong creative side that she’s expressed through dance, writing, acting, videography, and editing. In December of 2014, she took a leap of faith toward her passion and decided to pursue a career in television and film. She attended Lipscomb University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree in Film & Creative Media in December 2017.
Myah’s passion for television and film comes from the desire to create content that positively represents people of color, especially women of color, in a respectable manner. She is the creator of an award winning scripted television comedy series, #WeirdMYAH, that is currently in development to become a mainstream television series and is in the pitch process to production companies and television networks. The proof of concept miniseries, “#WeirdMYAH: The Miniseries,” was produced, co-written, co-directed, and edited by Myah, with her also portraying the leading role of Myah Bridges.
In Myah’s freelance work, she has served as a writer, director, producer, cinematographer, and editor for various productions which include documentaries, short films, music videos, web series, commercials, corporate videos, and podcasts. She also served as the Marketing/Public Relations Manager on Lifetime Movie Network’s “A Welcome Home Christmas” and “Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff: The Kristine Carlson Story,” as well as on the independent feature film, “Sketch.”
Myah is an editor within ARRAY Crew, Ava DuVernay’s initiative to promote industry production opportunities for underrepresented below-the-line crew. Her most recent credits include directing a Google ad for the product NiteThru, serving as the writer, director, and editor of, “Leadership, Love, Legacy,” a documentary in celebration of Bishop Joseph W. Walker III’s 30th pastoral anniversary at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as a short film, “By His Grace,” that Myah wrote and directed for Mt. Zion’s 2023 Easter Sunday worship service. Myah is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, which has a membership of over 30,000, and feels blessed to produce work that reaches 15 million viewers worldwide.
Myah has worked for the 2015 BET Honors, NAACP Awards, and BET Awards shows as a Talent Credentials Assistant and has worked on feature film productions alongside legends in the industry such as Tim Reid, Heather Locklear, and Charlene Tilton. She currently serves as Creative Director at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, TN and is continuing her freelance film work under her production company, Myah Naomi Productions.
Through producing personal, school related, and professional projects, Myah has truly become passionate about creatively piecing various elements together into something visually unique and memorable, as well as the fulfilling process of bringing a vision to life. Most importantly, her faith is a major aspect of not only who she is as a person, but also as a creative, and she aspires to use her gifts and passions for film production in ways that are pleasing to God and share His love.
Myah lives by the anonymous quote, "Reach for the moon, because if you miss, you'll still land among the stars" and is so grateful for the many opportunities God has blessed her with. She truly appreciates every breath, experience, achievement, failure, and opportunity that has pushed her along this journey. She is a firm believer in destiny and the fact that we were all created and placed on this Earth for a unique purpose to fulfill. It is her hope to use this passion to create work that leaves audiences feeling encouraged, motivated, and inspired.
